FFIC’s range of PRO-JET™ Infrared Absorbers is suitable for use in a growing and highly demanding range of specialty applications including:

 

Automatic Identification

Detection systems can be programmed to recognise a specific wavelength absorption profile which matches that of the chosen IR absorber. This allows the robust identification of genuine products versus counterfeits to enhance brand security.

 

Laser Imaging

Employing an infrared absorber with an absorption profile matched to the wavelength of a laser, allows localised conversion of laser light to heat in order to generate images. Typical examples are the direct imaging of lithographic plates in computer-to-plate technology and laser marking of coatings.

 

Polymer Laser Welding

Welding of thermoplastic component parts by lasers can be achieved by incorporation of infrared absorbers in the weld region. This technology allows greater flexibility in product design and avoids many of the issues of existing systems.

 

Radiation Filtration

Incorporation of infrared absorbers into coatings or plastic sheets can help in applications where near-IR radiation shielding or absorption is required. Possible applications include solar glazing in buildings and motor vehicles and the protection of infrared sensitive equipment.

 

Fuel Marking

Infrared absorbing dyes can be used in fuel marking solutions for both fiscal and brand protection purposes.
